The Big One!
We finally got a blizzard! Thankfully we were in Michigan for the weekend and missed it, but this is what we came back to...
Bride and groom
Last weekend we got the privilege of witnessing the marriage of my cousin, Anna, to a wonderful man, Marcus Bennett. Although the trip was shorter than we would have liked, we had a lot of fun with my family. Matt was also able to join us on his vacation from the Navy. Alex had a blast at the reception dancing with the flower girl. We'll try to post the video soon. He was so proud of his "new moves!" You can see more pictures at the Flickr site.
Dolphins
Two weekends ago we went on our "Babymoon" to the Shedd Aquarium in downtown Chicago. We had a wonderful and relaxing time with Chris' family! You can enjoy more pics by clicking on the Flickr icon in the left column of our blog.

Darkness
Thank you Grandma Darling for reminding us of this beautiful song. I know others of you are struggling out there as well with so many things, so I hope this brings some encouragement to you as it did to us.
"The Solid Rock" By William Bradbury
"When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace. In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil."
"On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand."
"His oath, His covenant His blood, support me in the whelming flood. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay."

A Little Blessing
I had a few hours to myself this afternoon so I dug my scrapbooks out of the end table in our living room. In the middle of updating Alex's baby book, I got interrupted by a phone call from our realtor. To make a long story short, she checked on the house to find it freezing. In all likelihood, the pilot went out on the heater so who knows what that will mean in the never ending saga of our house in Marion. After finishing the updates, I went back over to the end table to get our wedding scrapbook (almost 8 years later it is still not finished) only to find Pandora all cozy in the end table. God knew I needed something to smile about so I had to take a pic to share.

School's closed!
Well, after watching some of my teacher friends getting to post about crazy school closings, it's my turn. Thanks to my pregnancy bladder issues I was already awake at 5:45 when the substitute calling system called this morning. I dragged myself out of bed again, rushed into the living room to get the phone before the answering machine did, happily accepted my first substitute job at the elementary schools (see below for why I was happy about it) and then sat there thinking about what I just did. Then a thought popped into my head... "Church was cancelled yesterday due to the severe low temps (although it was a beautiful sunny day) so just maybe...." Sure enough. After checking the school's website and a couple of news stations online I was satisfied that I had the correct information. School was cancelled.
I'm actually a bit bummed about it simply because it was my first day to sub in the BRF Elementary schools. I applied to sub last October but just as my license came through, it was time to go back to work at TNT for the New Year's season. Having hired Ray to do what I was doing plus a lot more and having the NY season over, I am now available to sub. The Daycare kept me busy for the last two weeks and today was my chance to be back in an elementary school. Oh well! And it's not that we have that much snow, 4 inches at most, but the feels like temp is about -43! Do the math... that is a whopping 75 DEGREES BELOW FREEZING!
Tomorrow is my day to stay home with Alex because of storytime at the library and my 30 week Dr. appt (10 more weeks to go) so maybe Wednesday I'll get my chance to sub again! Never thought I'd look forward to subbing... must be going crazy.
By the way, please pray that our house in Marion and our Subaru Outback sell soon! I really want to stay home with my boys for awhile and those are the two things right now that may be standing in the way of that! Thanks!

Because it's too...
COLD! Yes, that's right! We just received a call that our church was cancelled because it was too cold! OH MY! Now that's a first! HA!
So what if it is a -8 degrees without windchill. So what if the highest temp is a -2 for today and that the low will be -17!
The roads are still clear! There's only a mere 4 inches of snow! WOW! Unbelieveable! THE WIMPS!
Interesting....very interesting.
Does anyone agree? Anyone?

Happy Goundhog Day/The Baby is Coming Today!
Well Alex was excited today. Spring is coming early and that means the baby is coming today! OK, so not really. We had told him that the baby was coming in Spring. So put yourself in the mind of a 4 year old and you can easily follow the logic. Since the groundhog didn't see his shadow - spring will be early. And since the baby is coming in the Spring, the baby is coming today. We had to remind a very disappointed boy that Spring also meant the snow would be gone (or mostly gone) and the weather would be much warmer.
